JACKSON WINN

This is me

“If it’s not fun, why bother?”  is my guiding creative principle, a quote from NIntendo, said by Reggie Fils-Aime.  As an artist I work intuitively.  I spend time understanding what I need, what I want, and how I can get there.  Once I start working I just work and try to trust that I can find an answer to my problems, and if I can’t I either get help or stop until I can figure something out.

I have a desire to present my ideas and that is why I create at all.  I want to make something enjoyable for myself, if no one else.  At the end of the day, it really is just making something for the sake of making something.

My work focuses on video games and essays.  I like playing games and love understanding what makes them work, both mechanically and as an experience.  I like writing essays because I enjoy discussing different topics and like using a dialogue or monologue to explore the thoughts of others as well as my own.

I find the ideas behind RPGs most interesting, the world, the characters, the way a battle plays out.  Something there fascinates me, and I want to create that sensation.

Most of my ideas come from the fantastical, whether it be more traditional fantasy like Dragon Quest or something with a spin like the works of Type-Moon.  I just want people to have fun, it really is that simple.
